TWO KNOCKED DEAD BY HIT AND RUN LORRY IN MASINDI

Masindi:  Two people were last evening knocked dead by a speeding truck, the incident happened at Nyamigisa cell, Central division, Masindi Municipalityat around 7pm.

Joseph Tusiime an eyewitness told www.ugreports.com that the lorry whose number plate wasn’t identified rammed into three people who were on the motorcycle.

He explained that the incident originated from the dust caused by the first truck. ‘’Due to dust, the deceased didn’t identified that the second vehicles was in front of them thus being rammed,’’ he explained.

The deceased were identified as Wabyoona Deo 26, and Regina Ayesiga all residents of Nyamigusa cell central division while their surviving colleague Namuga is still nursing broken legs at Masindi Hospital. ‘’Deo Wabyoona was a son to the area chairperson, whereas the other colleague was my best friend,’’ he asserted.

Paul Wandera the bereaved chairperson said that his son had just married a wife last month, adding that the matter has been reported to Masindi Central Police Station for investigations.  ‘’We haven’t identified the lorry driver, but we are requesting the drivers to reduce the speed when at work, because we are losing our people to accidents,’’ he asserted.

When contacted for a comment, ASP Sharon Araku the OC Traffic Masindi Central Police Station said that they were yet to record a statement on the incident.
