MASINDI: A family of over fifteen members has been Friday afternoon evicted from its 15 acres of land in Kasomoro Kitooka village Miirya sub county Masindi district over failure to pay shs 2 million which they were ordered to pay after losing a case at Masindi chief magistrate court.

Trouble started when one Stephen Kyamanywa of Kasomoro Kitooka village in Miirya sub county maliciously destroyed crops belonging to Nandigo Jane in 2003 which prompted her to instituted a case at Masindi chief magistrate court.

Court documents indicate Nandigo went to Masindi chief magistrate court were she won the case against Kyamanywa.

Kibiri Gimugu, the then chief magistrate ordered Kyamanywa to pay shs 2 million which he has never paid since 2005 which prompted court to attach 15 acres of land and sold it to another person.

The shs 900,000 was for damages while shs 1.1 was for court costs.

After Kyamanywa failed to pay the money, Deogratius Ssejjemba the current chief magistrate Masindi on January 27th, 2022 ordered Tadeo Karatunga the the court bailiff to evict and demolish illegal structure and vacate Stephen Kyamanywa, his agents and any person claiming under him and relatives from land and hand the same piece of land to Jude Mubuke who had bought the land.

Family members were evicted from their land in the watch of police who were giving protection to the court bailiff.
