18 DIE OF CORONA VIRUS AS SCHOOLS REOPEN

KAMPALA: The Ministry of Health has disclosed that at least 18 people have died due to Covid-19 related illnesses in the last one day despite the order by government to open schools.

According to the latest data released from the Ministry of Health, Uganda confirmed 749 new Covid-19 cases following 7,943 Covid-19 tests, and 18 people were reported dead due to Covid-19.

According to the statement issued yesterday, the COVID-19 deaths toll in the country is now 3,357 ever since the pandemic was announced in March 2020.

Last week, Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said that the general public should learn to live with Covid-19, because the virus will not simply go away and the government will not consider closing down even in the face of increased cases, because it is not sustainable.

The Minister of Health said that the government shall start giving booster doses to those who are ready to receive them beginning next month to priority populations, including the elderly aged 50 years and above, Security personnel, health workers, teachers Boda Boda, religious leaders and journalists.
