9 ESCAPES DEATH AFTER BOAT CAPSIZES ON L. VICTORIA

By UG Reports
ENTEBBE: Nine people have Thursday escaped death after the boat they were sailing in capsized on Lake Victoria.
Local leaders at Kisenyi Landing site told ugreports that the big boat was sailing from Kisenyi to Kasaba.
They said the big boat was overloaded with many passengers and other luggage like timber, bags of cement, fish, foodstuffs, and pieces of iron sheets beyond its recommended capacity, which might have caused the accident.
Uganda Police Marine Services have Thursday morning confirmed the incident, explained that last night they responded to a boating incident that occurred at Kisenyi Landing Site.
According to Police, the boat was hit by strong winds up to the mainland near Lukuba.
Police explains that nine people who were on the boat all got off safely. ”The engines have been retrieved from the waters by our marine officers.”
”We shall prefer charges against the boat owner when we receive all the facts since boats are not allowed to move at night.”
