A 78-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR DEFILING GRANDDAUGHTER
A case of aggravated defilement was registered at Kabale District under reference number CRB 217/2023.

KABALE: The territorial police of Kabale district are currently holding a 78-year-old man for allegedly having carnal knowledge with his 13-year-old granddaughter.
The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, has identified the suspect as Edward Katarikawe, a resident of Kagona village, Kavu parish, Maziba Sub County in Kabale district.
Maate told journalists that the incident happened on March 11, 2023, at around 8:00 a.m. in Kagona village. The girl had been sent by her mother to the neighborhood to get beans, and along the way, she met the victim grandfather, who forcefully dragged her to the banana plantation and defiled her.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that during the process of defiling her, the grandfather was caught red-handed by a neighbor and took off.
Maate narrated that the report was made at the Maziba police post, and the suspect was immediately arrested and charged accordingly.
He says inquiries are ongoing, and upon completion, the suspect will be produced before the courts of law.
