KIKUUBE: Justice David Wangutusi has asked the leaders to adopt the mediation method as an alternative for managing conflicts and rather avoid open courts.
He tipped the leaders on Monday during the two day on mediation skills organised by the Uganda Judiciary.
Mediation is a way of resolving misunderstandings that uses an impartial person to help team members to resolve their disagreements.
Justice Wangutusi further advised that some issues need to be harmonized behind the curtains of which open courts have no provision for that.
”Some issues need to be harmonized behind the curtains of which open courts have no provision for that,” he asserted.
His Worship Kisawuzi Omar also said mediation helps to maintain, improve or restore relationships between the aggrieved parties.
He added that mediation is participatory where parties get an opportunity to present their cases in their own words and directly participate in the negotiations.
The training was attended by District LCV Chairpersons, Chief Administrative Officers, Probation Officers, Community Development Officers and Communication Officers, and the Resident District Commissioners.
