MASINDI: Masindi Grade One Magistrates Court on Friday once again adjourned hearing of the case in which Masindi based journalist Aseera Gerald was shot dead in June this year.
The Magistrate Selsa Biwaga adjourned the case hearing to 18th November 2020.
Aseera Gerald who was a news anchor at 93.6 Kings Broadcasting Services in Masindi was allegedly shot dead on the 1st of June 2022 by Simon Ekou, a 38-years-old private security guard working with Blue whale security company Ltd.
Ekou was manning the Coca-Cola depot Masindi Branch by the time of incident.
The police report which was released shortly after the incident claimed that Aseera was shot on allegations of stealing four cartons of soda at the said soda depot something which is up to date strongly opposed by the public.
Aseera died at 35 years and was buried amidst tears on 3rd June 2022 at his ancestral home in Pakanyi Village Pakanyi Sub County Buruli County in Masindi district.
Addressing the mourners at the send off of Aseera, Peter Isingoma the deceased’s father refuted the police statement and said that they should thoroughly investigate the death of his son.
”My son wasn’t a thief, therefore security should thoroughly investigate why my son was shot dead, justice must prevail,” he asked.
Mrs. Jessica Kabakuru, the mother of late Aseera Gerald, asked court to speed up the trial of the suspect who killed his son for justice.
