AMURU VACCINATES 55,766 CHILDREN AGAINST POLIO

AMURU: Amuru district has vaccinated 55,766 children during the recently concluded three days Polio mass vaccination exercise within the district.

Dr. Patrick Odongo Olwedo the District Health Officer told www.ugreports.com that the exercise was successfully completed with a huge turn up by the local communities and positive response from the different stakeholders and the communities.

The health specialist disclosed that the district received a total of 56,900 doses of Polio vaccines and has fully utilized the entire vaccines with a target of 45,514 children.

George Ocan, the Secretary Health Amuru District Local Government disclosed that they deployed a total of 201 health teams in the various locations within the district to fasten and ease the immunization processes. ‘’We deployed 201 health teams in various locations within the district to fasten and ease the immunization exercise,’’ he asserted.

The secretary for health further noted that the exercise was very impressive with the positive turn up of the local communities as contrast to Covid 19 vaccination exercise.

Geoffrey Osborn Oceng, the Amuru District Resident District Commissioner disclosed that he is very happy and amused with the tireless and impressive work done by the district health teams.

He noted that it was a great exercise that on the first day the teams managed to immunize 1706 children and achieving the target of 45514 children was very easy due to the cooperation shown by the different stakeholders involved in the exercise.

In the concluded immunization exercise, Amuru sub county immunized 7107 children out of the target of 4001, Amuru Town Council 2893 out of 4399 target, Atiak sub county 3467 out of 2563 target, Atiak Town Council 1855 out of 2973 target, Elegu Town Council 2252 out of 2645 target, Guru Guru Sub county 5288 out of 3260 target, Lakang sub county 2800 out of 3000 target, Opara sub county 3281 out of 2555, Layima sub county 4487 out of 3000, Lamogi sub county 7708 out of 5863 target, Pabo sub county 5702 out of 4326 target, Pabo Town council 4869 out of 4818 target and Pogo sub county 3987 out of 4100 target.
