ARUA: The Child and Family Protection Unit at Arua Central Police Station recorded a total of 96 cases in the month of October.
According to the charge child and family protection unit Arua central police station Jimmy Anguyo Baiga, domestic violence took a lion share with 42 cases registered, failure to provide 14 cases, child neglect with 12 cases.
Child desertion 6 cases, torture 2 cases, missing children 6, simple theft 2, common assault 3, taking the deceased property 1, disappearance 3, criminal trespass 1 and child labour 4.
Baiga says three cases on the lead are attributed to men deserting their families and leaving them in the hands of women and children while they resort to unproductive issues.
He however advised the general public to always remain calm and come for advice at the police where they have felt helpless rather than committing crimes in their homes.
Anguyo further cautioned parents to take on their responsibilities since they are the ones who produce the children.
