ARUA: Police in Arua City have arrested a 23-year-old woman who killed own father in a domestic brawl.

The suspect has been on the run.

The West Nile Region Police Spokesperson Josephine Angucia confirmed the arrest of Maliko Rose on Thursday.

According to the regional police mouthpiece, the mother of one was arrested on Wednesday and she is detained at Ayivu West division headquarters, in Arua City.

Angucia told journalists that further investigations indicate that Maliko used a hoe handle to hit her father, who fell down unconscious and died immediately after being rushed to Adumi Health Centre IV.

Sources disclose that the suspect first got married but the marriage failed and she came back to her father’s house with a baby of one and a half years.

The police officer asserts that Maliko has generally been an indisciplined lady who does not want to do any work at home.

The regrettable incident happened on 2nd January 2023 at around 8:30pm when Maliko’s father, identified as Alias Ponzio 48, told her to go and fetch water from the well for home use, which she refused.

In the evening when food was ready, the late told the suspect Maliko not to eat since she refused to fetch water for family use.

This prompted Maliko to first move away in anger, and  came back shortly and hit her father and he was rushed to Adumi Health Centre IV were he was pronounced dead.

Angucia said the case was registered at Ayivu West division under CRB 01/2023.
