DUBAI: The leader of National Unity Platform {NUP} Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has been arrested while in Dubai.

The former presidential candidate confirmed his arrest through his Twitter handle in the wee hours of Saturday 8th October 2022.

Kyagulanyi said that he landed in Dubai at 8:30pm but he was arrested and interrogated for 8 hours.

According to him, he was asked about his political party, its leaders, their phone number, his family members, and their contacts in addition of confiscating his passport and phone.

For starters, Bobi Wine is scheduled to perform in Dubai today {Saturday}, and later in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, among others in a concert aimed at raising funds to assist Ugandans stranded in the said countries.

“After 12 hrs,( 8:30pm to 9:30am) I’ve been finally allowed into Dubai. Hoping that our charity concert, which seemed to be the source of these issues, will be allowed to proceed,” he tweeted.


He says they are only trying to raise awareness and assist the many Ugandan and African Immigrant workers.
