BODABODA PASSENGER KILLED IN RUKIGA FATAL ACCIDENT

RUKIGA: The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate has identified the deceased as Turinamuka Alex, 36, a resident of Ibaaso Ward Muhanga Town Council Rukiga district.
The incident happened on Monday at around 7:45 p.m near St. Paul’s Bukinda SS along the Ntungamo – Kabale highway.
It involved a Toyota Premio UAP 115 S driven by an unknown person and a Bajaj Boxer UEY 284 K ridden by Maxima Kasigwa, 40.
According to Maate, the passenger died on the spot while the rider was critically injured as they were heading to Ntungamo district.
The victim was rushed to Kabale referral hospital for medical attention, and the body of the deceased was also taken to a mortuary for a postmortem.
The regional police mouthpiece asserted that the rider abruptly changed to the extreme right-hand lane of the road, where he met an oncoming vehicle from Ntungamo, which knocked the motorcycle from the back.
According to police preliminary findings, the cause of the accident was reckless riding by the rider of the motorcycle, and both the motor vehicle and motorcycle were towed to Muhanga police station pending IOV inspection.
The police officer says that a fatal road accident was registered at the Rukiga Central Police Station under the file number TAR 07/2023, and efforts to arrest the driver are underway since he abandoned the vehicle 60 meters away from the scene before taking off.
