MASINDI: The Member of Parliament for Bujenje County in Masindi district Kenneth Kiiza Nyendwoha has donated 100 pieces of timber towards replacing the roof of the classroom block which was blown off by the wind at Kitonozi primary in Bikonzi Sub County, Masindi district.
The roof was blown off mid last month forcing the learners in primary five, six and seven classes to continue studying in the roofless classrooms.
Speaking to ugreports after the delivering the timbers at the school, legislator said he is lobbying the office of the prime minister for iron sheets but he has decided to buy the timbers valued at 800,000 shillings as they wait for the iron sheets.
‘’I’m lobbying the office of prime minister for iron sheets, I have decided to buy timbers valued at 800,000 shillings as we wait for the iron sheets,’’ he asserted.
John Kabihirwa, the chairperson Bikonzi sub county hailed the politician for honoring the pledge he made to the school after the disaster had occurred.
‘’It’s good that the legislator has honored his pledge, and we hope the problem will be soon solved,’’ he noted.
Flora Mbabazi, the school’s deputy headteacher termed the MP’s support as timely adding it is a big boost to their efforts of re-roofing the block.
‘’The donation has been timely, and we hope before rain season we shall have sorted out the problem,’’ she said.
Jorum Kiirya, the chairperson school PTA revealed that the task of re-roofing the block is still huge and he appealed to other well-wishers to join it by contributing towards it.
