BUKEDEA: The school administrators in Aminit Busano Primary School in Bukedea district have launched the training of learners on hand skills.

Stephen Okiror, the director of studies during an interview, says the training kick started last week with an aim of equipping learners with both knowledge and hand skills.

He says majorly the learners are trained mostly in bakery and bread making.

“We came up with this idea because some students may not manage to complete the education to the higher level, so it’s better if they can make some change in the community through use of hand skills,” Mr. Okiror said.

Okiroro also added that besides the normal classroom timetable, learners are enrolled for hand skill training before departing to their homes.

Unice Nadunga, the senior woman teacher says the training would now help to remove over-dependency of girl child in the community.

“The purpose of this initiative is to fight early teenage pregnancies since most of the young can now easily buy their basic needs”, said Nadunga.

However, some of the learners testified that they can now bake bread and sell even when they are out of school.
