BUKEDEA: Councillors in Bukedea town council in Bukedea district yesterday 31st, Aug 2022 kicked out the acting town clerk Mr. Vicent Akol out of the office over allegations of misappropriating funds worth 15 million shillings.

The decision was made during the council seating, as the acting town clerk failed to give a comprehensive report on the funds withdrawn from the town council account claiming to have catered for the facilitation tour of three officers to Koboko district.

Among the officers facilitated include: Mr. Vicent Akol acting town clerk, Mr. Sam Engole LCIII chairperson and Mr. Charles Opio the town treasurer.

In the council seating chaired by speaker Hellen Amunyo, said the acting town clerk was kicked out of the office in order to give room for the finance committee to investigate.

“We have kicked him out of the office in order to give room for the committee to investigate, over time whenever we ask for a report, the acting town clerk keeps on dodging or sometimes gives half-baked report”, said Ms. Amunyo.

Phiminah Apolot, Lilian Agwang and some of the councillors said they are not ready to continue working with Mr. Akol until the chief administrative officer changes to them as another town clerk.

Vicent Akol, the accused acting town clerk when reached for the comment, denied the accusations.

Sam Engole, the Bukedea town council LCIII chairperson declined to comment on the matter saying it was the decision of the council together with the speaker who chaired the meeting.
