MASINDI: Bunyoro Industrial hub is operating amidst few challenges, according to Ms. Scovia Turyahebwa, the hub Manager.
The hub which is located in Myeba-Kiryana Village Kimengo Sub County in Buruli County Masindi district commenced operations three weeks back.
Turyahebwa disclosed the challenges on Friday evening during the visit of the area member of parliament Hon. Aled Ronald Akugizibwe.
She said that some of the challenges they are facing include lack of Medical Personnel, Limited furniture, Low turn up of students from Masindi district despite it being the host among others.
The hub manager noted that they are offering completely free training including free accommodation and meals and called upon parents to enrol their children for the next year’s January intake.
The government funded hub is currently offering five months free technical courses including welding, carpentry, tailoring and hair dressing.
Turyahebwa revealed that other courses including Bakery, shoe making, knitting and coffee plus maize processing are yet to start.
In response to the challenges, Hon. Akugizibwe promised to report them to the concerned government officials and also to lobby for the hub.
The politician encouraged the people of Bunyoro, especially Masindi, to utilize this opportunity in order to fight unemployment.
Some of the students at the hub explained their experience at the training center.
Currently Bunyoro Industrial hub has a total of 211 students from the 8 districts in Bunyoro.
The hub is among the 19 hubs in the country that were initiated this year as president Museveni initiative to tackle unemployment.
