HOIMA: Rt. Hon. Andrew Byakutanga the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has Tuesday afternoon released the program for the 28th Empango celebrations 2022.

Emapngo is marked annually on 11th June the day the reigning Omukama {King} of Bunyoro HM the Omukama Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru ascended the throne

Addressing journalists at the Kingdom’s headquarters, Rt. Hon. Andrew Byakutanga said that this year’s celebration will be different from the previous ones since the Omukama is feeling unwell.

On the same note, he released the program for Empango celebrations and asserted that on 5th June, there will be business showcasing at Booma grounds, the marathon will be on 9th June and the kit goes for shillings 20,000, then they will on 10th June have cultural dances at Booma grounds Hoima, then the function will be celebrated on 11th June at the Booma Grounds.

The prime minister disclosed that the money collected will procure the theatre equipment for Kikuube Health IV in Kikuube district.

‘’For the past years, the Omukama has been supporting the health centres, and this year we shall support Kikuube health centre IV through procuring theatre equipment,’’ he said.


He also said the theme for this year’s Empango celebrations is ‘’Unity and Health’’.

Byakutaga added that the purpose of the celebration is to commemorate the restoration of the kingdoms in the country, the good leadership of Omukama Iguru, development done by Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, unity among the Banyoro and culture preservation among others.

The Prime Minister asked the government and well-wishers to embrace and support the event.

This year’s Empango is estimated to cost 366 million shillings.
