BUNYORO PM SHOULD STEP A SIDE – OKWIRI INSISTS

HOIMA: Okwiri Mugenyi Fred Ruchuunya insists that the Prime Minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Rt. Hon. Andrew Byakutaga should step aside for further investigations.

Speaking to ugreports.com on Tuesday evening, Okwiri elaborated more on his powers to suspend the Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi from the office.

”I cannot keep quiet when there is misappropriation of kingdom funds and selling of kingdom properties,” he contended.

He accused the royal commission led by omujwara Kondo Kalisa Kabagambe for failure to fulfill its responsibilities by instituting laws protecting funds of the kingdom.

”They have failed to fulfil their responsibilities of instituting laws that protect the funds of the kingdom,” Okwiri asserted.

Early this week, a three page letter seen by ugreports.com dated 30th January 2022 stated that following the general meeting of the Babiito clan which was held on Saturday at Karuzika Palace, they resolved to suspended the prime minister from his duties in the Kingdom.

The meeting was chaired by Owek. Fred Mugenyi Okwiri the Chief Prince Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

The letter also stated that the prime minister lacks transparency and accountability for Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom resources pointing out fraudulent and debious cash withdraws and expenditures without the approval of the kingdom finances, where colossal sums of money are withdrawn several times on the same day by the prime minister and his cosignatories without any approved financial policy and activity plan in place.

The gross mismanagement of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom assets and property including the destruction of Bugoma forests ancestral land, Muhangaizima cultural site, Katasiiha fort historical site, Semwema cultural site, Royal burial grounds in greater kibaale, Miduuma burial grounds in Masindi, were some of the issues stated in the letter that have led to the suspension of Byakutaga.

The letter also stated that the prime minister was involved in fraudulent sale of the kingdom land including the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom hosting Kagadi and Kakumiro district headquarters , Kaduku forest land and Waisembe omukihane {Wampanga} land.

The meeting also observed that these actions tantamount to gross abuse of the office by the Prime Minister Bunyoro Kitara institution and its leadership before Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom subjects.

”Therefore, for the good and continued smooth existance and growth of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, you are instructed to handover your office and all the kingdom property in your possession to your deputies for continuity of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom operations and businesses,” the letter concluded.

The ongoing scuffle in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom started this week leading to the result of heavy deployment at Karuzika palace. Prime Minister Andrew Byakutaga insists that he will not leave the office saying he was appointed by the King not Okwiri.
