KAMPALA: Cabinet has today {Thursday} approved Kakumiro district to host the 37th National Resistance Movement liberation day celebrations.

The revelation was made by the Minister of State for ICT Hon Godfrey Kabyanga through a two-page press release.

As a result, a section of Members of Parliament from Bunyoro subregion together with members of the national organising committee this morning met the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja to discuss the preparations for the day.

According to Hon. Nabbanja who doubles as District Woman Member of Parliament for Kakumiro, the preparations in the district are in high gear to ensure the function is held successfully.

She said that the organising committee has already identified the venue to host national celebrations which will be held at Kakeeka playground in Kakumiro Town council, Bugangaizi south, Kakumiro district on 26th January 2023.

NRM National Chairman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the day’s chief guest and will preside over the official opening of the Kakumiro NRM house, and commission the newly tarmacked Kakumiro- Buhimba road and hand over freehold land titles.

Earlier this month, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President Hajji Yunusu Kakande revealed that the day will be celebrated under the theme, ” Our Tireless Efforts to Transform Uganda is a Promise, We Can’t Afford to Fail”.
