KABALE: Police in Kabale District are investigating unclear circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of two family members in Butanda Sub County.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Tuhabwe Apollo alias Kayanda 48 and Mukapasika a Rwandese national, wife to Tuhabwe both residents of Rwara cell, Bigaga parish, Butanda Sub-county in Kabale district.
Allegetions indicate that Tuhabwe divorced his first wife Ndikubwimana Mariam in 2017 with whom they had stayed together for many years and decided to look for a new lover (Mukapasika) in September 2021. The couple developed conflict with the husband accusing his new lover of infidelty.
On Sunday at around 9pm, Mukapasika made an alarm that her husband Apollo had been killed which attracted relatives and neighbours to rush to their home for rescue.
Maate told journalists that upon reaching at home, they found Turyahabwe lying in his bed with a big injury on the head, blood oozing from the injury and mouth.
He also added that Turyahabwe was unconscious and rescuers decided to rush him to hospital and that along the way at Bigaga trading centre, he passed on and they returned him home.
The police mouthpiece adds that, upon reaching home, they started questioning Mukapasika accusing her to have been the cause of his death because of her high sexual urge, hence lynched her.
He said that homicide team from Kabale central police station visited the scene, documented it and Post-mortem was done on the two bodies at the scene.
The statement of double murder has been registered at Kabale central police station under reference number CRB: 330 /2022.
