HOIMA: China National Offshore Oil Corporation Uganda limited (CNOOC) oil and Gas Company has conducted a handle-over ceremony for 56 newly constructed resettlement houses for the Project Affected Persons {PAPs}

This was conducted on Thursday in Bucola village, Buhuka Parish, Kyangwali sub-county Kikuube District during the handover ceremony.

The head of corporate affairs at CNOOC Zakariya Lubega revealed that the project affected persons who have received houses were persons whose households were affected during project land acquisitions that was required for the project development ahead of the construction of the oil pipeline.

The Chairperson of LCV Kikuube District Peter Banura commended the work conducted by the CNOOC on constructing resettlement houses and being transparent in conducting their work.

Speaking at the same function, the Buhaguzi Member of Parliament Hon. Francis Kazini requested other companies to use the same methods of CNOOC if they are to deliver good services to the community.

He also asked the state minister for energy and mineral development Hon Peter Lokeris to work on electricity problems especially in areas within the constituency which have no electricity.


Meanwhile the state minister for energy and mineral development Hon Peter Lokeris urged leaders and people to work together and ensure that urbanization has been done properly within the community of King Fisher site in Buhuka Parish. Has also commended CNOOC for giving locals jobs.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of Government ministries, the petroleum authority of Uganda, District leaders from Hoima and Kikuube District local governments and others.
