CNOOC UGANDA TO OFFER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES TO DRIVERS

HOIMA: Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom (BKK) in conjunction with China National Offshore Oil Corporation {CNOOC} Uganda Ltd plan to conduct training for individuals who are interested in driving Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV)
The first group of seventy-three (73) drivers under this scheme completed their training in November 2021 and graduated in December 2021.
According to Bunyoro Kingdom two page press release dated 14th January 2022, one hundred and ten {110} drivers will benefit from the same program. The individuals should be able to professionally drive a truck and trailer (class CH license) or rigid trucks (class CM license).
The training shall take place in Hoima or an appropriate location within Bunyoro region in March this year.
Individuals hailing from the Albertine basin/Bunyoro region and Kingfisher Project area as well as female candidates shall be the primary beneficiaries. On the same note, Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom invites applications from individuals who are interested in undergoing the above-mentioned training.
The objectives of this training include; train Ugandan HGV drivers and support them to obtain required driving licenses (class CH license for truck and trailer or class CM license for rigid trucks); so that they are eligible for transportation and logistics related jobs in the oil & gas and other sectors.
Enhance the knowledge and practice of professional driving among Ugandan HGV drivers by training them according to the East African Community standardized curriculum for drivers on large commercial vehicles and/or international standards for HGV drivers.
The eligibility beneficiaries should be individuals hailing from the districts of Hoima, Kikuube, Masindi, Buliisa, Kiryandongo, Kibaale, Kakumiro, Kagadi and Hoima City with recommendation letters from a respective Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom County Chief & national IDs provided as proof, applicants should have a Uganda driving license valid for at least 3 months, for an extension from class B to class CM, the applicant should have held a driving permit for class B for a period not less than three (3) years and should not be less than twenty-five (25) years.
For an extension from class CM to class CH, the applicant should have held a driving permit for class CM for a period of not less than three (3) years and should not be less than thirty (30) years of age, applicants shall be subjected to a medical examination to ascertain if they are fit to drive, they should attach photocopies of their National identity card, driving permit and academic documents, female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
