ARUA: Over 90 suspects have been arrested by Arua police in an operation to keep Arua city free from criminal Gangs.
The operation follows a recent cry by the Arua Central Division Mayor Muzaidi Khemis who asked the office of Resident City Commissioner and security agencies to work tooth and nail to make sure that the lives of vulnerable people especially women in the city are secured from the gang groups who have taken control of the city.
Police arrested mostly the criminal Gang group leaders and a number of items were recovered.
Among the recovered items include five motorcycles which are parked at the police station, phones, opium, machetes, and knives among other things the thieves have been using to rob the community members.
The Westnile Region police spokesperson Josephine Angucia says the arrests have been made with the help of the community members who have helped in giving information to the police.

The others have been arrested with the help of the CCTV cameras which were installed in various areas within the town and its suburbs.

He says the gang groups such as the 35 dogs, chicken cannot cross, no woman too much stress among others have recruited youth below 30 years to work for them but some of the Gang croup leaders have been revealed by their already arrested suspects.
The operations are aimed at cleaning the city from the Gang groups who had taken over the city.
