DOZENS FEARED DEAD IN MBALE DISASTER

According to Rogers Wandulu, the heavy rain started last night at around 11:30pm till morning, many properties have been destroyed and dozens are feared dead.

MBALE: Dozens of people are feared dead following the disaster that hit Mbale city Saturday night.

The most affected areas are Nabuyo suburb, Busamaga, Kampala road, Namatala, Namakwekwe, Namabasa, Bugema, Bukasakya and Nabuyonga ward, Northern City Division, industrial park, and the neighbouring areas.

According to Rogers Wandulu, the heavy rain started last night at around 11:30pm till morning, many properties have been destroyed and dozens are feared dead.

He also told ugreports.com Sunday morning that most streams and rivers bursted thus causing disaster in the Eastern Uganda City.

‘’Two boda boda riders, over six vehicles including for tourists and others have been swept away by the disaster, and they are feared dead, one unidentified body has been  retrieved this morning,’’ he explained.

David Jackson Wangusi further told ugreports.com that the heavy rains which pounded the region for over eight hours none stop hence causing flooding in most of the suburbs has also affected Mbale city, as River Nabuyonga on Mbale -Kumi Road flooded four vehicles, six motorcycles and dozens are feared dead.

Magosha James chairperson Milenbe cell in Nabuyonga ward Mbale told ugreports.com that people have been killed by floods and their property has been destroyed. They have also lost their animals. Poverty and famine is now looming.

It’s reported that Mbale last experienced this in 1997 where all the rivers surrounding Mbale got submerged and people died.
