KISORO: The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has released the two Uganda People’s Defense Force Officers who were arrested by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday this week .

The two UPDF officers are RA/ 258358 Pte Okello Joseph and RA/ 257949 Pte Kwemoi Michael who were arrested in Busanza in Democratic Republic of Congo and detained in Goma.

The Kisoro Resident district commissioner, Hajji Shafiq Ssekandi Sengooba has confirmed the officers’ release revealing that they have been handed back to Uganda Thursday morning.

Uganda and DRC have been conducting joints operations agaisnt the ADF rebels based in Congo this December last year.

This website could however not establish what led to the arrest of the solidiers and how their release was secured.
