GULU: The first phase of the construction of one modern dormitory facility at Mary Immaculate Girls Primary School in St. Joe Cell, for God Ward Bardege-Layibi division, Gulu city, is completed.

The construction work, which was awarded to Regent Technical Service Limited at a cost of 80 million shillings, was launched on March 28, 2023, hence the commencement of the work.

The facility is being established through a Discretionary Development Equalization grant allocated to Bardege-Layibi division by the Gulu City Education Department.

Oola Patrick Lumumba, the Bardege-Layibi division Mayor, cherished the constructor for exhibiting professionalism and quality work and for being a corruption-free company.

Meanwhile, Reverend Sister Josephine Angee, Head teacher of the school, says she is optimistic that if completed, the facility will improve girl’s child education in the region while anticipating increases in the total enrolment of the learners.

The head teacher, however, appeals to the Gulu City authority to rush the process of the second phase so that the facility is completed on time.

Mary Immaculate Girls Primary School has a total enrollment of 533 learners, and only 120 girls are housed in the school.

The school was established in 1934 by Comboni missionaries as a formation center for young girls who would intern at the joint sacred heart girls secondary school in preparation for sisterhood.
