The regrettable incident happened at around 8:30am.

“The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the city mortuary for postmortem examination, while the injured victims were rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital, for treatment,” Nampiima said.

She attributed the cause of the accident to the Isuzu ELF truck whose driver, one Gerald Ssembatya, lost control “while speeding from Rubaga road before it rammed into five motorcycles and bicycles that were entering Kabusu roundabout.”

The Rubaga accident happened just hours after another truck on Wednesday night crashed into Awoja swamp along Soroti –Mbale highway, about 300 km east of Kampala, killing five and injuring seven others.
