KANUNGU: Police in Kanungu district are holding four suspected Congolese nationals who were found illegally operating in Uganda.
The suspects are detained at Kyeshero Police Post in Kanungu district.
The Kanungu Deputy Resident District Commissioner Ahimbisibwe Gad Rugaju told this publication on Wednesday that they were arrested on Tuesday over illegal entry into the country.
He said that he became suspicious since their motorcycles didn’t have number plates saying it was putting people’s lives at risk in case of any accident.
”I found them operating bodabodas and carrying luggages without clearance from their country to cross to Uganda at the junction of Kyeshero- Bwindi heading to Kyeshero border,” he said.
Rugaju added that their motorcycles were also impounded and urged people to report any one they don’t know because we are at a risk of contracting the deadly Ebola virus.
