FUEL CRISIS HIT HOIMA OIL CITY

HOIMA: Following the skyrocketing fuel prices in Uganda, Hoima Oil City has been hit by fuel scarcity, according to drivers and boda-boda riders in Hoima City, there are only two fuel stations in Hoima City serving the community.
When our reporter visited the fuel stations in Hoima City this morning {Friday}, a litre of petrol was between Shs12,000 and Shs15,000 while diesel between Shs8,000 and Shs10,000.
‘’All fuel stations don’t have fuel, and the fuel prices are exorbitant yet we don’t have money, there is need for government intervention otherwise we are suffering,’’ Josephant Kyakusimiire notes.
The mechanic in Hoima City also told www.ugreports.com that due to the skyrocketing fuel prices, they no longer have clients like before. ‘’The life in Hoima City is worsening, we no longer make money like before, government should intervene otherwise we are suffocating,’’ he asserted.
Geoffrey Sunday, a boda-boda rider told www.ugreports.com that due to the skyrocketing fuel prices, they have also hiked transport fares. ‘’We have lost a number of clients due to the skyrocketing fuel prices, some have resorted to footing, loans are on our neck, our members of parliament should intervene otherwise life in the city is complicating,’’ Sunday asserted.
Hon. Asinasi Nyakato the Woman Member of Parliament for Hoima City said it’s embarrassing, she added there is need for ministry of energy together with ministry of trade to urgently intervene before the situation get out of hand.
‘’There is urgent need for the ministry of energy and ministry of trade intervention before the situation get out of hands, our people are suffering,’’ she asserted.
