GOLD MEDALIST INZIKURU DECRIES LOW FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO SPORTS SECTOR

APAC: The world cross country gold medalist Dorcus Inzikuru and Apac municipality member of parliament Patrick Ochan have decried low financial support to development of sports talent in the country

On Sunday, Ochan and Dorcus Inzikuru organized the Apac Sports Championship at Apac Boma ground to identify sports talent.

Inzikuru while addressing the press Tuesday said many youth are talented in different sports talent but lack support from the government.

Inzikuru decried laxity by government to fulfill pledges it made to athletes who won medals for the country which has demotivated them.

She said Apac municipality has many sports talent that can be developed to take part in competitions at top levels.

MP Achan said the games will be held annually to promote sports talent in Apac.

Ochan awarded the participants with various prizes who won in athletics, bicycle riding among others.

The politician called for an increment of the budget allocation towards the sports sector.

Atik division won the athletics competition for both male and female categories, followed by Aroca division while Agulu division came third and Akere division tailed in fourth place.

11 athletes were selected to participate in the national competition at the Mandela national stadium, Nambole  on 30th-April.
