BUSIA: The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja has revealed that all parishes in the country are going to receive Ugx 17M for the Parish Development model aimed at alleviating poverty at household level this financial year.

According to Nabbanja, effective next financial year, each parish will be entitled to Ugx 100 million for the same program.

She warned all the those planning to swindle this fund that the government will not entertain any of them stressing that they will face the law.

The Premier Nabbanja directed Busia Chief Administrative Officer to invite the Tororo District Service Commission to help them recruit parish chiefs after being informed some have never been appointed since the mandate of the service commission expired.

This comes days to the official launch of the Parish Development model program on 26th Feb 2022 in Kibuku district citing that provision is there by law.

Raphael Magyezi the Minister of local government called upon Local council one and twos to wait for bicycles from the government to help them in monitoring the progress of the program as well as Sub county chairpersons await for motorcycles after the official launch in Kibuku.

Apollo Yeri the Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament requested the government to consider the urban area and how best they will benefit from this program.

He also disputed with the formation of a secretariat to over see the parish model program citing it will take alot of money his suggestion was let the ministry of local government be in charge.

Minister for Agriculture Hon Frank Tumwebaze urged farmers to plant what will bring in profit within a short period of time and revealed that in the next financial year, each Sub County on flat land will receive tractors to help them carry out extensive agricultural practices.
