KAGADI: Members of Abafumbogo clan from Kagadi district have received a donation of a ploughing tractor from government through the ministry of Agriculture, animal industry and fisheries.
The tractor , according to reports, is one of the 20 which were recently flagged off in Kakumiro district by Prime Minister Robbina Nabanja to different groups on 27th January 2023.
While handing over the tractor to the executive members of Abafumambogo clan in the district at Kagadi community hall on Thursday, Mathias Kamara, the Kagadi district senior Agricultural officer explained that the tractor is meant to improve the clan members’ lives through improving their agricultural production.
Kamara urged the beneficiaries to handle it with care so that it can fulfil the objectives for which it was donated.
He advised the clan members to put in place a mechanism that will enable the members to get the information about the availability of the tractor so that they can benefit from it.
While receiving the tractor, the chairperson for the Abafumambogo clan in Kagadi district, Matia Musoke revealed that the tractor came after the clan leadership lobbied Premier Nabbanja for it.
Musoke aplauded Nabanja for the donation that he said would boost the members’ farming through mechanising it and he appealed to the members to cooperate so that they can benefit from the donation.
However Musoke clarified that although the tractor has been donated to Abafumambogo clan members, it will be accessed by even non-clan members who will be able to meet its hire fee.
Nabbanja, a Mufumambogo, herself promised to donate eight tractors to the Abafumambogo clan members in the eight districts of Bunyoro region and money to the clan’s SACCO.
This was during the clan members’ annual general meeting that was held in Masindi in 2021 where she was the chief guest.
