HOIMA: Police in Hoima are hunting for Peter Musana, a resident of Kiryatete West cell in the East division of Hoima city.
He reportedly beheaded his 9-month-old baby boy, identified as Moris Ayebale, of the same area. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon.
Moreen Nyakato, the deceased’s mother, explains that on the fateful day, her husband came back home and entered their house, where their son was sleeping.
He reportedly picked up a panga and chopped off their son’s head, killing him on the spot. He later fled to an unknown destination after the incident.
Nyakato, upon entering their house, where the child was sleeping, was shocked to discover the child lying in a pool of blood with his head chopped off.
She sounded an alarm that attracted area residents, but they could not apprehend the suspect since he had already fled the crime scene.
According to Nyakato, they did not have any misunderstandings with her husband, who wondered why he decided to brutally kill their chill.
Christine Baitwaki, a resident, says they were shocked by the act exhibited by the child’s father.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says police rushed to the crime scene after getting the information but could not do much to apprehend the suspect since he had already fled, adding that the hunt for him is on.
He says once arrested, the suspect will be arraigned before court to be charged with murder.
Hakiza advised parents to always respect each other to avoid such scenarios in marriage.
The regional police mouthpiece has appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by providing vital information that could lead to the arrest and detention of the suspect.
