HOIMA RESIDENTS PROTEST OVER POOR ROAD

HOIMA: Residents from the villages of Kitoonya, Kiduukuru and Wagesa in Buhanika sub county Hoima district have expressed their bitterness to Hoima district leadership for failure to work on their road.

The road in question is Kitoonya – Kyohairwe – Kiduukuru – Wagesa road. The residents who were Saturday afternoon found communally working on the road expressed their concern saying that the road has been neglected for over 15 years.

According to Fred Isingoma the secretary for publicity Kidukuuru village, the road in question was lastly rehabilitated over 15 years ago.

‘’It’s now over 15 years since this road was worked on, and its affecting the transportation of merchandise thus hindering development,’’ he said.

Mulumba Alibankoha who was the taskforce chairperson during the rehabilitation of the road told our reporter that they don’t see any reason why the district has neglected the road since it connects to the district.

‘’The district leadership should explain why this road has been neglected for long yet we pay. They should intervene before things get out of hands,’’ he asserted.

Alibankoha says due to the poor state of the road, it has hindered transportation of agricultural products forcing them to sell them at cheaper prices.

According to Kalema Zakayo a resident of Kidukuuru village, the district should rehabilitate the road since it’s in sorry state. ‘’The district leadership should consider rehabilitating this road, otherwise we have been patient enough,’’ Kalema told ugreports at the site.

Efforts to get a comment from Ibrahim Ruswata the Hoima district Engineer was futile by press time since his known number was unavailable at the time of publication.
