I WANT MY LAND BACK, FORMER BULIISA MP TELLS VENDORS

By Evarce Asiimwe

BULIISA: The Former Buliisa County Member of Parliament Hon. Birahwa Steven Mukitale Adyeeri has told the vendors operating on his piece of land to vacate it.

The former legislator offered his piece of land to market vendors who were operating in Biiso market Buliisa district to create space for the construction of Biiso Modern Market.

After vendors operating on his land for the last fifteen months, Birahwa says that he wants to develop his land since the construction of Biiso Modern Market was completed.

”The town council authorities asked me to help them with the land where vendors can operate from as they proceed with the construction of the main market, and now that the construction is completed, I want to use my land,” he asserted.

He adds that, up to now they are continuing to operate on his land yet the construction of Biiso Modern Market is complete noting its high time they vacate.

Bernard Tugume the Project Coordinator the Albertine Region Sustainable Development Project recently told ugreports that the market will be commissioned at the end of this month, and vendors were to be shifted within the same month.

”The market will be occupied mid March and it will be commissioned at the end of this month by Hon. Judith Nabakooba the minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development,” he said recently.

He also said vendors would be shifted from Nyamasoga where they are currently operating to the newly constructed Biiso Modern Market.

The construction of the modern market commenced early last year by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development with support from the World Bank under the Albertine Region Sustainable Development Project, costing 3.1 billion shillings.
