INCREASED CRIMINAL GANGS WORRY ARUA CITY AUTHORITIES

ARUA: Arua city authorities are worried over the criminal gang groups which have established themselves in the city business centre targeting business people and phone users.

The secretary for security who is also the central division councillor representing Bazaar ward, Arua central division in Arua city Rashid Osino Ejoyi said, women and slim bodied people are the most targeted due to their vulnerabilities.

Osino also said, with the help of area local leaders, security and the installation of CCT Cameras in the city, over 60 wrong elements have been so far arrested and sentenced.

The politician calls upon coordination and vigilance among the city dwellers.

The Mayor Arua Central Division Muzaidi Khemis has asked the office of Resident City Commissioner and security agencies to work tooth and nail to make sure that the lives of vulnerable people especially women in the city are secured from the Gang groups who have taken control of the city.

Muzaid says the gangs have introduced new technology of using numberless motorcycles to grab people’s property.

The Resident City Commissioner for Arua city, Alice Akello appealed to the public to take responsibility to talk to their children to stop such vices insisting that these terror groups are formed by children from families within Arua city.

In May this year, Alice Akello the resident city commissioner had promised that she will engage the in charge of the flying squad to step in and curb the new mode of criminality.

A number of innocent citizens in Arua city have suffered the wreath of the street gangs who have gone as far as grabbing people’s property in broad day light in some parts of Arua city.
