KASESE: Alex Baluku, a journalist attached to Messiah FM in Kasese and Rwenzori Daily has been this afternoon put at gun point at Katunguru Primary School polling station in Katwe Katabaro Town Council in Busongora South County Kasese district.

Baluku told ugreports.com that when they were covering the ongoing by-election at the above polling station, security ordered them to vacate the area.

‘’Though they told us to vacate the place, we continued covering, one of the security officers whom I didn’t identify just put me at gunpoint, I immediately left the area for safety,’’ he explained.

According to Baluku, election observers and the agents of some political candidates raised an issue of double voting, vote stuffing and also men in uniform parading to vote.

‘’I don’t know whether the uniform men were also supposed to vote at the same polling station, but those are some of the issues that caused chaos at the polling station,’’ he asserted.

By press time Baluku was heading to the police to report the matter. ‘’Í have reported the matter to the umbrella for Journalists in Kasese and I’m now heading to the police,’’ he said.

We could not get a comment from the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, ASP Nelson Tumusiime since he didn’t respond to our reported phone calls by press time.
