GULU: A one and half year old girl, who went missing on Friday, have been found dead in a stream in Owoo Sub County, Gulu district.
Agenorwot Phebia went missing at around midday from her Grandfather’s home in Awoo-nyim village, Owoo Sub County under unclear circumstances. Her body was later on Sunday, at around 8:30pm, found at Laloyo stream.
Richard Okumu, the area local council three chairperson, says they suspect that Agenorwot was killed and dumped in the stream since her body has multiple wounds on her laps, legs and head.
The body was later retrieved by police and taken to Gulu regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Police has since detained Mathew Odong, the deceased’s grandfather to help with the investigations.
According to section 189 of the Uganda penal code act, any person convicted of murder shall be sentenced to death.
