KABALE: Kabale District, will next week roll out the third Covid-19 mass vaccination exercise, as sub county Covid-19 vaccination supervisors were trained, after the country started to register fresh Covid-19 cases.
According to the acting Kabale District Health officer, Alfred Besigensi, more than twenty Sub county Covid-19 vaccination supervisors, were trained yesterday, as the district prepares to roll out the third round of Covid-19 mass vaccination exercise that is targeting over 50percent of residents in the district, who did not receive their second dose and those who intend to receive their first dose. The training was held at Cephas Inn hotel in Kabale Municipality.
Statistics from the Kabale District health officer’s office, indicate the 93percent of the targeted population received their first doses, out of which 44.4 percent received their second doses.
Besigensi adds that the district has so far registered 6 fresh Covid-19cases, four months since the last case was recorded.
The Kigezi regional Covid-19 surveillance coordinator, Moses Mutabazi, said that the third round of mass Covid-19 vaccination campaign will commence on Tuesday next week and will last for five days. He adds that vaccination exercises will take place.

Joash Magambo, a representative from the ministry of health said that the third round of Covid-19 vaccination has been triggered by the new cases of Covid-19 that the country has registered in recent weeks.
He added that all people aged 12 and above years are targeted to be vaccinated but warned against forceful implementation of the campaign.
