KAGADI: Police in Kagadi District are hunting for a 28-year-old man from Nyangereka A, Kyomukama ward, in Kagadi Town Council for chopping off the neck of his son and killing him instantly.

The suspect has been identified as Tusiime Kusemererwa, a boda boda rider operating at Gapco Stage in Kagadi Town, while the deceased child has been identified as Tusiime Mutegeki, 2 years old.

The murder took place at around 7 pm on Sunday evening.

Omuhereza Mbabazi Kusemererwa, Tusiime’s mother, says she had taken her grandson to Kagadi Hospital and left the other children with Tusiime.

Mbabazi says his son Tusiime was a good resident and everyone in the village trusted him, but she did not know what motivated him to commit the murder, but she said his wife had divorced a few days ago.

In an interview with one of the children, they say they were this morning playing with Tusiime Mutegeki (now deceased), when their father, Tusiime Kusemererwa, came and took him in the house for a shower and later killed him.

Locals led by their LC1 chairperson, Omuhereza Kyamanywa, say Tusiime has been a good resident in the area, and they have been shocked by his act.

The residents condemned the act committed by their resident and asked the youths to have faith in God.

It is however learned that Tusiime had been riding a boda boda, but his employer had taken it away from him, and his wife had also divorced, which had stressed him for quite some time.

The police had not commented on the matter by press time.
