KAKUMIRO: Kakindo Health Center IV in Kakumiro district has received theater equipment from the Ministry of Health through the Kakumiro local government to improve health services in the district.
The equipment received is a patient monitor, an ultrasound machine, a theater light sterilizing machine, and an oxygen concentrator valued at over 94 million shillings.
During the launch of the equipment at the health facility on Wednesday, Kakumiro Deputy Resident District Commissioner Edward Kalisa Monday said the equipment would improve service delivery and reduce the distance patients have been trekking to get medical services.
He lauded the government and Kakumiro district council for the great step taken to save the lives of Ugandans.
Dr. Edward Sabiiti, the Kakumiro District Health Officer, welcomed the machines, asserting that they will help save lives and reduce the death rates of expectant mothers in Kakumiro district.
He, however, pledged to utilize the machines together with other medics, saying that the facility has experienced doctors to operate them.
Lawrence Bazaara, the Kakumiro district secretary for health, said that the facility serves a huge number of patients, including those from Kakumiro, Kagadi, Kikuube, Kyankwanzi, Kibaale, and Kiboga districts.
In 2020, the then State Minister in charge of the Vice President’s Office and also former Bugangaizi West Member of Parliament, Dr. Kasirivu Atwooki, donated a 5 million Uganda shilling dental chair to help fight dental diseases in the district.
