KANUNGU: Kanungu district Resident District Commissioner {RDC} Mwesigye Ambrose has cautioned health workers against theft of health equipment and drugs.

The warning was sounded on Tuesday during the commissioning of a four room staff house at Matanda Health Centre worth 146 million shillings.

He also raised his concern on Health workers’ absenteeism and mismanagement of health equipment with hopes that with the addition of four health workers staying at the facility, services will be easier.

Mwesigye  applauded UGIFT for the support of the health facility adding that Primary health care is a great pillar to social economic transformation.

Kato Besisira, the Assistant District Health Officer highlighted that the design was for the structure to accommodate only two staff but later they improvised and were able to make it for four staff.

Tumuhamye Kenneth  for social services who has represented the district Chairperson asked the health workers to utilise the facility effectively and make an impact to the community.


Gatrude Mutahakana Principal Assistant Chief Administrative Officer has commended the government for always thinking about Matanda which had only one facility but now it has the best structures and has requested the users to keep the house and environment clean and neat adding that a temporary kitchen is urgently needed.

Hon. Kyarimpa Prudence District woman Councillor representing Kihiihi Sub-County has thanked the government of Kanungu and the Council for the facility reminding them that a need for a fence is needed at the staff quarters to protect the staff’s properties.
