According to the Ministry of Health, the 5-day preventive yellow fever vaccination campaign is expected to run from today, June 15th, to June 18th, 2023.

The mass vaccination campaign was launched at St. Thereza Bujuni primary school in Kibaale town council, Kibaale district.

The Kibaale District Assistant Health Officer, James Asiimwe, says that teams of health workers have been deployed at each vaccination center in the district, targeting to vaccinate a total of 222,957 people (93%) by the end of the campaign.

Asiimwe says that for today and tomorrow the vaccination will be carried out in schools, and later on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this week they will be focusing on other people at village or cell level.

Aidah Kahindo, the central supervisor from the Ministry of Health, says the objective of the government is to protect people against the deadly disease, appealing to them to get vaccinated.

While launching the vaccination exercise, Godwin Angalia Kasigwa, the Kibaale Resident District Commissioner, rallied the public to embrace the exercise and not be misled by self-seekers.

He assured the public that vaccination is safe and free, noting that it does no harm to humans.
