KIBAALE TARGETS TO VACCINATE 42,000 CHILDREN AGAINST POLIO

KIBAALE: Kibaale district health department successfully kicked off the door to door polio mass vaccination exercise on children aged less than five years.
Dr. Godfrey Timbihurira the District Health Officer {DHO} Kibaale flagged off the mass polio vaccination drive in 57 parishes across Kibaale district where 42,000 children below five years will be vaccinated by the end of the exercise on Sunday 16th January. ‘’We are expecting to vaccinate 42,000 children in Kibaale by the end of tomorrow,’’ he told www.ugreports.com.
The health specialist also said during the exercise, the children will be given two drops of the polio vaccine to protect them against the polio virus. He also asked parents and guardians with children below 5years to keep home to ensure the children are vaccinated against the deadly polio virus.
Mary Atugonza, a parent appreciates the government for the initiative of door to door vaccination saying it will boost the immune system of the children and has also minimized the expense of moving to the health centres for vaccination exercise. She has asked fellow parents to embrace the exercise more especially those with children who haven’t been vaccinated.
Government of Uganda through the ministry of health are expecting to vaccinate over ten million children under the age of 5 years in the country.
