Kikuube: Residents of Musaijamukuru B village in Buhiimba sub county, Kikuube district, are asking the government to secure land titles for them.
The request was made over the weekend during a meeting convened at Musaijamukuru Catholic Church by the Buhaguzi East Member of Parliament, Stephen Aseera Itaza, to update the residents on the cancellation of a land title that covered 320 acres of land in Musaijamukuru B village.
Mr. Earnest Musinguzi, a resident of Musaijamukuru B village, requested the legislature help them get land titles for their land.
Jackson Bahemuka, the chairman of LC 1 of Musaijamukuru B, said that the residents should be helped to benefit from the free land titles the district got. ‘’Dear honorable, we request that you get land titles for our land; this will protect us from land grabbers,’’ he requested.
Justus Isingoma, the LC3 Chairperson of Buhimba Sub County, also re-echoed the need for the legislator to get them land titles since many residents can’t manage to acquire them by themselves.
In response, Stephen Aseera Itaza revealed that the district received 22,000 land titles, and he made a request to the lands minister to consider people who have land issues to get land titles.
Recently, MP Aseera, Nyabongo Charles Ochaki, and Job Muhumuza were accused of grabbing the land that covers the whole Musaijamukuru B village since they had a land title bearing their names.
However, MP Aseera said that his name was illegally used since it had a forged passport photo and signature on the document used to acquire the land title.
The legislature went to the commissioner of land registration, Mugaino Baker, who cancelled the land title according to a document dated September 22, 2023. The commissioner also gave 60 days to anyone who wasn’t satisfied with the ruling.
