KIPLIMO WINS SECOND GOLD AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES

Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo clinched 5000m gold in extraordinary fashion at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Kiplimo who earlier won 10,000m gold, injected a last kick to go past Kenya’s Nicholas Kimei and Jacob Krop on home straight.
He wins Uganda’s third gold after clocking 13:08:08 before receiving a standing ovation from a fully packed Alexander Stadium.
Kiplimo replicates past performances of Joshua Cheptegei (2018 Gold Coast) and Moses Kipsiro (2010 Delhi) to have won 5000m and 10,000m gold at the same games.
He takes Uganda’s medal tally to four after Victor Kiplangat (Marathon) and Teddy Nakimuli (Boxing) won gold and bronze respectively.
It’s the latest achievement for the Half Marathon World Record holder who won bronze at Tokyo Olympics and World Championships in Oregon.
