KIRYANDONGO APPROVES SHS 1.9BN FOR DISTRICT TOURISM DEVELOPMENT PLAN
The plan will will run for five years.

KIRYANDONGO: Kiryandongo District has approved 1.9 billion shillings for the Tourism Development Plan, which will run for five years.
The plan was approved by the District council, which met on June 30, 2023.
According to Ronald Rimbosh Okello, the Tourism Officer, the plan will help improve the stock and quality of tourism infrastructure and develop and diversify tourism products.
Others are developing a pool of skilled personnel along the tourism value chain and promoting domestic and inbound tourism as enhanced, regulated, coordinated, and managed tourism in the district.
Kiryandongo District has a variety of tourism potentials ranging from flora and fauna with three quarters of Murchison Falls National Park to cultural and historical sites, and this informed the development of the District Tourism Development Plan.
The plan targets increasing tourism foreign exchange earnings from 1.45 billion to 1.862 billion Ugandan Shillings, the tourism share of GDP from 7.3% to 8.5%, and the direct employment of youth from 5% to 50% by 2025.
