HOIMA: A section of Makerere University Kitara Students Association {KISA} have called for a unified Bunyoro Kitara kingdom to ensure increased bargaining power towards the development of the region.
The students led by their association president Edrine Ahuura made the call during a press briefing at the Kingdom headquarters on Rukurato road on Thursday afternoon.
The call comes at a time when a section of Bagungu are agitating to have an independent cultural institution.
Edrine revealed the Bunyoro Kitara kingdom has for many generations remained one strong unified institution and hosting a number of ethnic tribes who have settled harmoniously with the indigenous Banyoro.
”Bunyoro Kitara kingdom has for many generations remained one strong unified institution, hosting a number of ethnic tribes who have settled harmoniously with the indigenous Banyoro,”said Ahuura.
The students in their press statement read by Ambrose Tumwine, a student in-charge of legal matters of the association asserted when ethnic tribes call for secession, it weakens the kingdom as an institution as well as extinction of the great glory of the kingdom preserved for many generations.
The students called for dialogue in pursuit of a common ground between the Kingdom leadership and the agitators of the Bugungu secession.
IT WILL NOT WEAKEN,IT WILL CREAT MORE JOBS IN THE REGION.
