According to the local authorities, the suspected south Sudanese and Karamojong cattle rustlers have reportedly been terrorizing the locals of the area with the intentions of stealing livestock.

“If you don’t have animals they may either kill you or brutalize you according to David Okema the resident of the area.”

Alfred Okema the Kiteny sub county chairperson who neighbored Orom East said the residents have been deterred from going to the garden, fetching water and collecting firewood in fear of their life.

He added that the constant raiding of the area for looting animals have deterred residents from ploughing because the suspected cattle rustlers are targeting the animals.

However the resident district commissioner urged the resident to be alert, vigilant and report the incident to the UPDF detach or defense themselves because some of the rustlers are using spears, machetes, and arrows which are also available in the community.
