SEMBABULE: Sembabule district councilors are feuding with the LC 5 chairperson, Mr Patrick Nkarubo the district LC5 over the management of vehicles allocated to his office.
Councilors argue that Patrick Nkarubo received a Hilux Double Cabin pick up early last year from the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer to facilitate his travel but instead went and parked it at unknown place where it is rotting from.
Councilors led by Mrs. Kasande Jolly female representative of Mijwara, Mabindo sub counties and Sembabule town council question Mr Patrick Nkarubo’s intentions of managing two vehicles, including the one he confiscated from District Health Officer.
“We gave him 21 million shillings to repair LCV chairperson official car but to our surprise we just saw him driving DHO’s vehicle,” says Kasande.
They want him to return the vehicles to the Chief Administrative Officer so that district health officer can get what to use during his course of work.
In a letter which was seen by ugreports, councilor Jolly Kasande claim that the work of vaccinating of covid-19 is grappling because district health team lack transport.
The councilor, says that Patrick Nkarubo has never explained the council where he parked his official vehicle.
She accused the LC V chairperson of being adamant to give back DHO his vehicle to address the transport challenge faced by the district health team.
”This is a public shame, how can LCV chairperson fail to care about the people who can’t access health services because of confiscating DHO’S vehicle,” she asserted.
Mr Patrick Nkarubo describes those accusing him of owning district health officer’s vehicle as ignorant, adding that he didn’t contest for the LC 5 seat with intentions of driving district vehicles.
”Councilor Jolly Kasande and her group are just wasting their energy and my time, I got this car from chief administrative officer,” he said.
The LCV chairperson is currently using a double cabin pick up which belongs to the office of District Health Officer.
